"The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character – that is the goal of true education" – Martin Luther King

It gives me immense pride and satisfaction to share the journey of Government Arts College, Maninagar, an institution committed to providing quality education at a nominal cost. Our goal has always been to create a centre of excellence, fostering an environment of teaching, learning, and research that contributes to the holistic development and capacity building of each student.

College Introduction

Established in June 2007, Government Arts College, Maninagar offers quality education to students in the Arts stream. The main purpose behind such a decision was that there was no government institution of higher learning in the area catering to the needs of the economically weaker sections of society. On 19th of June 2008, Shri Narendra Modi, the Chief Minister of Gujarat, dedicated this institution to the great scholar Padamshree Keshavram Kashiram Shastri. The campus accommodates six other institutions in addition to the Arts college. Amongst other subjects (Gujarati, Sanskrit, English, Economics, Psychology) the college imparts education in Indian Culture/ Indology to educate the new generation about its cultural heritage. The college has taken tiny yet definite steps towards its enhancement and growth. In the year 2011, the museum ‘Smrutikaksha’ in memory of Shri Keshavram Kashiram Shastri was inaugurated by Hon. Chief Minister Shri Narendra Modi. The college considers the museum to be Shastriji’s sanctorum and takes immense pride in being the custodian of his legacy. At the same time, the institution acknowledges its debt to the Shastri family for entrusting us with the responsibility of looking after his heirlooms so that his legacy may be passed on to future generations.
