Brief History of The College
Government Arts College, Maninagar, Ahmedabad has been established by government of Gujarat in June 2007. Eastern area of Maninagar is economically weaker so, the visionary chief minister of Gujarat Shree Narendra Modi has decided to uplift education standard of this area. He performed bhoomipujan ceremony along with education minister Smt. Anandiben Patel and dedicated upcoming educational campus to the legendary scholar of Gujarat Padmashree Keshavram. K. Shastri. On 19th June, 2008, chief minister Shree Narendra Modi, along with ministers of the state, Vice chancellors of the different universities and scholars from various fields inaugurated Padmashree Keshavram. K. Shastri educational campus with pomp and glory. New building has all the modern facilities. Along with Arts College other six colleges have been started in same grand educational campus.
Government Arts College has offered six under graduate subjects. Subject like Indology – Indian Culture has been introduced first time by Gujarat University to study Indian heritage with different perspective. Diploma courses like temple management and astrology run by Shree Somnath Sanskrit University have been introduced in our college. A museum named “Smrutikaksha” also inaugurated in the year 2011 by chief minister shree Narendra Modi, along with other ministers of the state, vice chancellors of the different universities and scholars from various fields in the memory of renowned scholar Padmashree Shree Keshavram. K. Shastri. Museum exhibits his all valuable medals, prizes, trophies, certificates, felicitations, gifts and books have been donated by his family members to the college for future generation to know his contribution towards society.
Along with academic activities, girls NCC wing, Sports and many extracurricular activities have been introduced in the college and students have been performing well in each activity. Gujarat University youth festivals, different activities under Saptadhara, literary seminars, Udisha job fairs and much more activities have been organized by our college for bright career and over all progress. Within short time, government Arts College has achieved credit and prestige.
